INTRODUCTION COLLECTION

The ground thunders with the sound of the horses’ hooves, they thud and clunk making an ever-lasting echo. These echoes vibrate through Born In Exile’s first collection featuring an array of 17 leather , Jacquard and Velvet ready-to- wear pieces, three shoe designs and a leather belt from the accessory range.

MODERN HERITAGE

The collection drew inspiration from the traditional Libyan horse track, the fully embroidered leather saddles, the woven caparison, the metal embroidered breastplates and the ankle wraps gave us a handful of ideas when applying our inspiration on modern materials such as denim, calfskin and aniline leather.

L'IMMIGRANT

The collection consists of 26 ready-to-wear pieces, from denim, Errda, silk tulle and cotton. It carries on the same embroidered denim elements from the previous collection MODERN HERITAGE, representing the changes that these elements go through in the migration process.

A MODERN DAY AMAZON

Born In Exile’s SS22 collection paid homage to Greek’s mythology that took place on the Northeastern shores of Libya in modern day Cyrene. This new collection captures elements of the Amazon’s myth through the arrow cuts on the garments , and this transition is reflected in the use of mixed fabrics and prints.

BLOOD, SWEAT AND OIL COLLECTION

This collection presented during DUBAI FASHION WEEK in 2022 captures the hopes, fears and uncertainties of Libya’s oil boom. The decades following the discovery of oil radically changed the economic and social landscape of the country, and this transition is reflected in the use of mixed fabrics and prints in the clothing.

NEVER LOVE ME AGAIN

Inspired by Gaddafi's propaganda machine, this collection re-introduces tacky elements reminiscent of this era with a modern twist substituting original material with chic leather and trendy nylon whilst using techniques such as slashing and cutting to create edgy, wearable pieces.

GHAZALA COLLECTION

The Ghazala Collection is a tribute to Libyan heritage, inspired by the iconic Ghazala Fountain in Tripoli. Blending modern silhouettes with cultural symbolism, each piece tells a story of memory, resilience, and identity—honoring the beauty of a place that continues to live in exile.
